Breathe in. Breathe out. Feel Better yet? The causes for stress and anxiety are ever increasing these days. So why not find an effective way to use cannabis for easing some of that tension. We've already discussed a variety of its calming qualities, but today will be specifically focused around anxiety.
If anxiety is your main purpose for using cannabis, then you are actually not looking for the THC effects so much. CBD plays a bigger role in relaxing the nervous system. It acts as a natural tension reliever, and it tones down emotional flare ups. Depending on where you are dealing with anxiety, there are a number of ways to take CBD as well. Smoking it, such as through vaping, will provide fast acting relief. You can feel the stress melt away within a few minutes of your hit, if not immediately. Smoking does come with its own limitations of where you can do it; but also that its effects tend to be short lived. Edibles may take a while to kick in, but they will offer consistent relief for hours when you start to feel it. Similar to some other conditions, treating with a tincture is probably your best option. Again, it absorbs and takes effect significantly quicker than an edible can, yet lasts about the same length of time. It does well to administer in the morning, since anxiety is usually a daytime problem. Plus, regular use of tincture will allow some of that relief to begin feeling more natural and permanent.
To reiterate, THC doesn't exactly help your anxiety as much as CBD, and too much could lead to more anxiety and even paranoia. However it definitely can be beneficial. The euphoric state it creates can be great for boosting happiness, and improve your general life outlook. Personally, I recommend strains that are grown to have a higher CBD to THC ratio, like 1:1. This means that there are equal amounts of THC and CBD in your dose. This can still cause a buzz, but will not be nearly as potent as typical cannabis strains.
My last point on this subject would be that taking CBD does not mean you need to change your regular smoking habits. Most cannabis strains, and especially concentrates, will be quite low in CBD and other cannabinoids when compared to THC. So taking some extra CBD on the side can be very beneficial even to regular smokers.
